mermaid diagrams
sublimated supports mermaid diagrams in two ways:
standalone .mmd files
create a .mmd or .mermaid file with mermaid syntax. sublimated renders it server-side on push — no JavaScript needed in the browser.
see the mermaid docs for supported diagram types, styling, and demos.
content block transclusion
embed an existing .mmd file using iA Writer or Obsidian content block syntax:
/diagrams/architecture.mmdor:
![[architecture.mmd]]the pre-rendered SVG from the file's render_svg representation is embedded inline — zero re-rendering cost.
this also works for .excalidraw files. see excalidraw for details.
inline mermaid code blocks
use fenced code blocks with the mermaid language tag:
```mermaid
A[start] --> B[end]
```rendered server-side via Selkie at push time — no client-side mermaid.js. multiple mermaid blocks in one file are batch-rendered in a single call. if a block has invalid syntax, it falls back to a regular code block.
