images in zola sites on sublimated are handled automatically. when you push a folder containing images alongside your markdown, the build process rewrites image URLs to point to sublimated's CDN.

how it works

  1. you push files (markdown + images) to a zola folder via git

  2. binary files (images, fonts, etc.) are stored in sublimated's CAS

  3. zola builds the HTML from text files only (images aren't sent to the WASM builder)

  4. after build, relative image paths in the output HTML are rewritten to raw.sublimated.com URLs

  5. images are served from sublimated's edge network

markdown images

standard markdown image syntax works:

![alt text](photo.jpg)

the build step resolves photo.jpg to the full CDN URL automatically.

figure shortcode

for images with captions, use the figure shortcode:

{{/* figure(src="diagram.png", alt="architecture", caption="system overview") */}}

supported formats

any image format works — png, jpg, webp, avif, gif, svg. binary files are stored as-is in content-addressed storage and served with correct content-type headers.

external images

you can also link to external images directly:

![external](https://placekitten.com/400/300)

these are left as-is (no rewriting needed).
