geo
sublimated renders .geojson files as interactive maps. push via git, view the rendered map on the web.
- maps are rendered client-side using MapLibre GL JS
- geo metadata (format, bbox, feature count) is extracted server-side on push and stored as item attributes
- the raw GeoJSON is fetched from CAS and rendered onto the map
- supports points, lines, polygons, and mixed FeatureCollections
demos
one file per geometry type — push them to see them rendered:
- points — world cities as point features
- lines — routes and paths as LineStrings
- polygons — country/region boundaries as Polygons
- mixed — FeatureCollection with points, lines, and polygons together
- single — a single Feature (not wrapped in FeatureCollection)
how it works
- push a
.geojsonfile via git (or upload via API) - sublimated detects the geo format and extracts metadata (bounding box, feature count, geometry types)
- metadata is stored as item attributes:
geo_format,geo_bbox,geo_feature_count - when you view the file, MapLibre GL JS loads from CDN and renders the data on a map
- the map auto-fits to the bounding box of the data
- polygons get a semi-transparent fill, lines get a colored stroke, points get circles
supported formats
phase 1 (now): .geojson files served directly from CAS
future phases:
- geoparquet (
.parquetwith geo metadata) — needs features API endpoint - shapefiles, KML, CSV with lat/lon columns — needs server-side conversion
