+++ title = "images and assets" date = 2026-04-21 description = "images in zola on sublimated" [taxonomies] tags = ["demo", "images"] +++
images in zola sites on sublimated are handled automatically. when you push a folder containing images alongside your markdown, the build process rewrites image URLs to point to sublimated's CDN.
co-located image
this image lives next to this markdown file as sample.png:

the build step rewrites sample.png to a full raw.sublimated.com URL automatically.
figure shortcode
the figure shortcode adds a caption:
{{ figure(src="badge.png", alt="badge", caption="a small green badge image, co-located with this post") }}
how it works
- you push files (markdown + images) to a zola folder via git
- binary files (images, fonts, etc.) are stored in sublimated's CAS
- zola builds the HTML from text files only (images aren't sent to the WASM builder)
- after build, relative image paths in the output HTML are rewritten to
raw.sublimated.comURLs - images are served from sublimated's edge network
supported formats
any image format works — png, jpg, webp, avif, gif, svg. binary files are stored as-is in content-addressed storage and served with correct content-type headers.
